Im going to be making Catherine’s Spicy Chicken Soup today.
Shopping List and Kroger
I’m about to take off to Kroger with my list of ingredients for this Chicken Soup, after I take a shower. Well see what ingredients I can find and what struggles I encounter.
…
I’ve just gotten back. It was quite interesting. I had to make a decision on the 8 skinless, boneless chicken breasts. I couldn’t really find a deal on it. Had trouble finding Chicken Bouillon. Found out that they are cubes of salt flavored powdered chicken broth.
Other then that everything went smoothly.
After watching a BBC documentary about 10 factually proven things to losing weight. I’ve decided that I will attempt to eat high protein breakfasts. Followed by soups for lunch. Every few days I plan on cooking a different soup, that i’ll reheat for lunch.
Prep Work
Since the chicken was already skinned and boneless, each individually packaged, it was rather easy to throw those into the pot. The only prep work i had to do was cutting the onions (tears ahoy!) and garlic, and shredding the cooked chicken. Measuring out 30 things was somewhat of a pain but whatever.
The concept behind soup and weight loss is that soup has more volume. The example of this was two teams of soldiers were given the same meals, just prepared differently. Team Red was given rice, chicken, and vegetables with a cup of water. Team Yellow was given the same thing but blended into a soup.
After an afternoon of exercise they did ultrasounds of each teams stomach. What was discovered was that Yellow team was still not hungry because the soup still remained in the stomach.
This was explained by the water in Team Reds meal draining out rather quickly only leaving behind solid food. The solid food was then digested rather quickly. Team Yellow’s meal couldn’t drain and thus remained longer in the stomach.
Cooking
Not much to do here but wait. Soup cooks itself. :P
Taste
Wow. Just finished. I have to say, despite being really hungry. That was fantastic. That was some awesome soup!
