Pretty intense group of morons. Some of these signs just make me weep for humanity.
To think that people are so selfish, that they don’t want to provide healthcare to the masses. Its bad enough the state that we leave 3rd world countries in. Cant we at least take care of ourselves.
Sad.

I’m about to take off to Kroger with my list of ingredients for this Chicken Soup, after I take a shower. Well see what ingredients I can find and what struggles I encounter.

Coding Coding Coding
So as I come to a finish in my Learning Perl (O’Reilly) book, I’ve started to pick up reading in another book called Beautiful Code (O’Reilly). I just purchased the hard copy, because it was so hard to put down I had to read it even when I was away from the computer.
Chapter 1 has been a terrific adventure. One of the things that really captivated me about Perl was Regex (or...
Terminal
Check it out. I colorized OS X’s terminal!
It was disgusting without colors. So I enabled them via .bash_profile.
Unfortunately, the default blue used to display Directories was disgusting too.
Imagine the darkest blue on a black background. Staring at such a file for hours starts to cause headaches. It’s now the most pleasant shade of light blue on black. Much more appealing...
Rewriting C program in ASM →
What’s going on here is really something quite amazing. Let me sum it up. The author makes a C program that consists of one line of code.
/* tiny.c */
int main(void) { return 42; }
I enjoyed the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy reference.
The result is an application size of 3998 bytes.
He then proceeds to write the same thing in ASM; reducing the size over and over until he...

Feature Wishlist: Locations
I was thinking how cool it would be if I could customize settings for each location in OS X.
Currently Location only works for network configurations. Wouldn’t it be cool if apple added more functionality to this making your laptop smarter.
Lets take this scenario into account. At home where your macbook may be secure a screensaver that prompts for a password is unnecessary. Nobody is...

Sup world
Been very busy at the end of this semester. Had no time to post, but now that exams are finished I have plenty of time!
I’ve been working on Objective C + Cocoa Touch Frameworks to eventually make iPhone applications. I’m making great progress. ( Did a little Cocoa Frameworks on the side for Mac OS X programming but not as much as the iPhone programming. )
I’ve also learned a...

Random CSS
I had an idea. What if I randomize the color scheme of my last style sheet, redblack.css. This way when a user visits a page. A random CSS file will be selected to style up the page.
Or .. I could also select a color for each day of the week, similar to Fred’s post titles. ;)
I got to thinking about which would ultimately be less to code equaling faster execution.
I kind of feel like...
Finished
I hope everyone likes the new schema + comments. I introduced the 960 Grid System when creating this. Figuring out comment count was quiet difficult at first but I got it!
I also started reducing my code and making it do less, since less equals faster. I have a couple more ideas to work on and develop then release. It will be interesting to see the results.
Robati
Ahhh.
The Tumblr API is doing some weird things. I wish the automatically HTML formatted text in tumblr made sense sometimes.

I’m working on a comment system but I’m having a hell of a time with the backend. I just cant seem to get a connection with its database.
I might have to place a ticket with my host to see what kind of restrictions they put on this server. Perhaps that will give me a solution.
In the meantime I’m going to keep at it and figure a solution out.

Screen Repositioning
Heres a little idea ive developed.
Layout 1
This is how my two 21” screens are setup. Now that you know this I decided that scrolling across the entire span of 3360 ( or 1680 x 2 ) pixels would actually be slower then stacking the screens as seen next.
Layout 2
Now even though my physical setup isn’t like this I feel its simply better because of the span of motion you would...

So I started using AI today. Thought I’d give it a shot.
I’m about to leave for a friends house but I’d thought I would post what I got so far.

Here is where I stopped. Ill pick it up later and show the results.
Take care.
Goal Met - PHP
Today I took another crack at the way the API of tumblr was working and fixed everything! Its also more dynamic and less intensive. :)
This means the content end of my site is done.
All that is left now is restyling!
Changes
So I have fixed the PHP code on Robati.com to paginate data.
I replaced a foreach loop with a while added needed variables. Worked on implementing the Super Global $p for page number. Unfortunately I discovered the Tumblr API defaults to 20 articles.
This means that for now I am just setting my blog to display the most recent 10 articles.
Later on I plan to figure out how to adjust the XML...
960 Grid System
I’ve been getting into web design a lot lately and already use a CSS reset provided by YUI. Then I found this awesome framework called 960 Grid System at http://960.gs/.
I am definitely thinking about redoing the website, even though I just finished the main CSS frameworks / styling.
I’m going to start off with PSD mockups provided by the system. That should give me time to design...

Audioscrobbling
So I use last.fm and audioscrobbling alot. I have bowtie or coversutra (whichever I use at the time) scrobbling my plays. I recently noticed Jack Johnson topping my charts with incredible amount of plays.
It suddenly hit me! I have an alarm that turns on my music every morning. Jack Johnson plays on the weekends. It must have been the case that I never shut it off a few times. :( Now my library...

A gracious thanks to Fred for helping me out with the source code.

I might additionally move the timestamps to the bottom of each article. Maybe with right...
